Hypnosis Therapy For Anxiety
People do not understand my anxiety after being assaulted?
I was assaulted a year and a half ago. I've been through therapy, including hypnosis, EMDR for post-treatment PTSD. I moved to a new city about a year (for reasons not related), and have been doing quite well. Recently, some random attacks on women occurred in my area. All of my anxiety rushed back, and has been taking a toll on my friends. I often feel safer to stay inside, and I have irrational thoughts and paranoid to leave my home. My friends (new and old) have been frustrated with me recently I do not understand how my anxiety of being attacked or they are referred to other aspects of my life. I know they think I'm being a flake, and they do not understand my fear. Unfortunately, My anxiety seems to have an effect on everything in my life. I'm trying to get back to therapy. How I can explain my feelings to people, when they seem to understand what I'm going?
I could only say bluntly that the aftermath of their assault was afraid that might seem irrational to others, but can be caused by different things such as reports of women who assult on your new city. Tell them that while these fears can be irrational, they are real to you, and I hope you never have to experience. Say you're doing the things you need to do to work through them, but they need your understanding and patience, as it happens. If they can not respond positively to that, I would doubt if you really want for their friends.
